And, updates thru the program do not finish....

This is a result of new, more stringent security in Windows Vista and 7. Note that this only happens if Vista/7 has the "User Account Control" feature activated. WIthout the UAC feature the updates work normally. To get updated those using UAC will need to go through the Downloads page of the web site, or you can disable the UAC feature in Vista and 7 and have a normal working computer. [It took me all of one day to turn my UAC off...]
